A quick trip to Melbourne

The boys and I just got back from a lovely few days in Melbourne with my Mum and Dad.   I've realised how important it is to have something to look forward to at the moment.  It doesn't make you forget what has happened, but it's a nice distraction from thinking about it all the time. I never stop thinking about things, but it's just nice to have some time to focus on something else.  We were lucky to get cheap flights a while back, so we booked the tickets and planned some time with my sister Nicki and her family.

Since we only just went on our holiday to Queensland we hardly thought about our trip to Melbourne coming up, as we got busy back at work and school.  The boys only realised a few days before that it had come up so quickly, and then they were very excited.

They were so excited to see their cousins and there was lots of noise the first night as they wrestled and played together.

The next day we went to the Werribee Open Range Zoo.  I had taken Noah to the Melbourne Zoo before on  one of his trips to the Royal Children's Hospital, and had heard that the Werribee Zoo was even better, so I was looking forward to taking the boys there.

It was such a lovely zoo.  It was set out on over 700 acres and has a lot of areas that you can walk through and be right near the animals, such as the kangaroos and emus.

Our favourite part of the day was going for a ride on the safari bus.

It was so cool to be so close to the animals while on the safari bus.

There were so many fun things for the kids to look do all around the zoo.  Here Harri is trying to see if his stride is as long as a cheetah's.

The kids absolutely loved pretending they were on a lion safari.

They also loved being able to touch real emu and ostrich eggs.

This was most awesome drum kit ever.  The kids would've played on it all day if we let them.

We loved the zoo and would definitely recommend it.  We had lots of fun in Melbourne and did some special things, so I will save the rest of the trip for other blog posts.
